Best Agriturismo and Farm Holidays in Perugia, Umbria

Agriturismo Cresta Verde
When one thinks of green Umbria, small villages similar to nativity scenes perched on rolling hills covered with olive trees and vineyards immediately come to mind. There are many ways to visit these places, but there is one that allows you to understand the true soul of the region as well as enjoy the beauty of the historic centers. We are talking about a stay in an Agriturismo combined with cultural visits perhaps in the capital, Perugia.

While looking for the finest Agriturismo experience, we are always looking for authentic ones. That is structures in which there is a farm and which also offer the guest the possibility of sleeping and having an authentic experience in the countryside. In many of the realities we have seen, the agricultural dimension is almost absent, and therefore a fundamental part of the Agriturismo experience is lost.
We believe that the real Agriturismo is the perfect place for those who want to visit a city and at the same time want to relax and get in touch with an agricultural dimension that is impossible to find in a historic center. The countryside has also always been the custodian of popular traditions and knowledge that have been lost in the city.

Here are our recommendations on three absolutely real farmhouses near Perugia where you can have a real countryside experience and at the same time visit the capital and the historic centers in the surroundings.

Just a step away from Perugia

It was the first Agriturismo to receive the license in Umbria and therefore it is the #1 Agriturismo.

Max and Juta are originally from South Tyrol and have brought a world to Umbria that did not exist before. The Agriturismo is located on top of a mountain and has a 360° view.

Despite the uncontaminated nature, however, the structure is very close to the historic center of Perugia, really 15 minutes away, and this makes it very attractive to those wishing to visit the city. When you return from the city tour, you will be greeted by steaming dumplings and Umbrian meat. Here the cuisine is a combination of Umbrian and South Tyrolean specialties and even the most curious tastes will certainly be satisfied.

The restaurant is managed by Michele, son of Max and Juta who gives the Agriturismo a youthful touch that makes it perfect for a group of friends looking for a fun holiday in a place close to the historic center of Perugia.

Preggio: a romantic weekend near the Trasimeno Lake

With this Agriturismo, we move to the area of Lake Trasimeno. We are in Preggio, about 40 minutes by car from Perugia.

Bruno and Elena, the owners, produce spelt, wine, oil, and honey. The rooms are furnished with charm and above all, they are huge (the smallest is 30sqm). If you come in the summer it will be hard to decide between a visit to Perugia and its surroundings and a nap along the edge of the splendid panoramic swimming pool.

The country atmosphere is made romantic by the stylish rooms and the warm colors on the walls. A true broth of jujubes for those looking for a little relaxation and romance in addition to culture.

In the evening we eat all together in the restaurant of Agriturismo (strictly open to guests of the structure only). The food is excellent, prepared with farm products and vegetables from the garden personally tended by Elena.

Bucolic atmosphere...
With this Agriturismo we move a little further to the center of Umbria, in the Spello area. Perugia is about thirty minutes away and the highway exit is right next to the Agriturismo.

If you are on holiday with the family, this place will be a real amusement park for your children.
In the Agriturismo of Emanuele, the young and passionate owner, there are all the animals. He ranges from goats to cows, passing through hens, lambs, and geese complete with a pond where they bathe.

The rooms are simple but functional. The country's atmosphere is that of real farmhouses: animals, cultivated fields, and an owner eager to transfer the value of agricultural life.
When the Carolina cow produces enough milk, Emanuele prepares a fantastic yogurt for breakfast that you must try!
The authors of the article Gabriele and Federica are two enthusiasts of Agritourisms. They personally visit the structures in search of Authentic Umbrian farmhouses making a clear selection between real and non-real. Their idea is to find beautiful places where you can breathe country life and not just the green landscape.
